I can’t believe it’s time to write another resolution list. It’s really interesting reflecting on an entire year’s accomplishments. Before writing this, I thought that I was in the same place this year as I was exactly a year ago; a bit unsettled regarding my career, a bit alone, a bit heartbroken. But after reading last year’s list I’ve realized that a lot has happened and life isn’t just about the good things that happen to you. Picking myself up after I fall was one thing I had on last year’s list, so I guess I did accomplish that. And as far as everything else on last year’s list goes, I’ve done pretty well. I’ve spent 2011 playing shows, writing music, and recording songs; completely built my styling portfolio (print and online) and starting booking my own styling jobs on a freelance basis; have made my apartment a really relaxing, comforting and unique home for myself; have definitely learned to depend on myself (but there’s still always more to learn); and have been putting my friends first. I’m hopefully 2012 won’t have as many falls as 2011, maybe just a few stumbles instead. Regardless of what comes my way, here is what I hope to accomplish in 2012:

1. rid my life of superficial relationships, jobs, and activities. this is the year to concentrate on true friends, true relationships, true parts of life. it’s time to surround myself with things that really matter.

2. spend a lot of time with and remain incredibly close to my family (and its new additions)

3. learn how to cook…and actually do it

4. go to more museums, art exhibits, film openings etc. learn more about the fine art and film industries

5. but continue to build my skills involving fashion and music

6. try to write again…for fashion or music websites, magazines, or just for myself

7. record my solo work and play solo shows

8. most importantly, back to #1. forget what’s cool to anyone else and do what really makes me happy. and if somewhere along the way I meet the man I’m going to marry, then I’ll take that too :)

Here’s to 2012. I know it’ll be full of ups and downs, but I’m hoping for mostly ups. There’s been a lot of growing up for me, and I’m ready for it.

Cheers.
